With nine restaurants all preparing special menus, Yardley Restaurant Week is returning for a full week beginning Monday, Aug. 19. Each business will feature daily 3-Course Prix-Fixe Meals, craft beers, and more.
First organized in 2014, the week-long collaborative effort is designed to bring in customers during a relatively slow season. The Yardley Business Association wanted to spur activity in August, which is a time when many people go away on vacation.
The Continental Tavern is throwing its hat in the ring again for the celebration of local eateries. Proprietor Frank Lyons is one of nine owners getting ready for a busy week.
“Yardley was never a place you thought of to go and eat, but now there’s quite a choice of different eating establishments. Restaurant week helps to advertise that,” Lyons explained. “There’s lot’s of great places to eat in Yardley.”
Like the other participants, Lyons is offering a three course meal. For $25, patrons can get a soup or salad, a main entree, and a dessert.
The other eight participating locations are:
- Burritos Yardley
- Canal Street Grille
- Kawaii Tori Sushi
- Landolfi’s Cafe & Deli
- Trattoria Rosa Bianca
- Vault Brewing Co.
- Yardley General/The Cellar
- Yardley Inn Restaurant & Bar
While people in other parts of Lower Bucks may be more familiar with the recently started Bucks County Restaurant Week, Yardley’s came first. Lyons sits on the executive committee for the Board of Directors of Visit Bucks County. He was in the room during its first planning meeting.
“In a manner of speaking, Visit Bucks was using Yardley Restaurant Week as a bit of a model to come up with their restaurant week as well. But Visit Bucks is bringing people to the county. For the restaurants in Yardley, it’s all about getting more people out to eat and to try a restaurant they may not have tried before.”
Everything winds down Aug. 25. More information on Yardley Restaurant Week is available here.
