A radio program dedicated to 60 years of WBCB broadcasting excellence, has in turn been recognized for excellence.

Charlotte Reese, WBCB’s News Director, and WBCB 1490 are winners of a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Judges Merit Award for Reese’s production of “WBCB 1490 AM: Surviving, Thriving and Celebrating 60 Years.”

Over 315 applicants were submitted in the 2018 PAB Excellence in Broadcasting Competition.

Gale Ponti, The Director of Member Services for the PAB, believes any station/person who receives this award deserves tremendous praise.

“You rose above a whole lot of people who entered,” Ponti explained. “You clearly did excellent work that totally touched somebody to the point of receiving an award.”

Filled with humility, Reese bestowed all praise for the award upon her coworkers.

“This piece was about the station as a whole,” Reese said. “It would not have been what it was without each person taking the time to talk to me and reminisce about WBCB… It was a pleasure to put together.”

Reese and WBCB will be honored by the PAB during a luncheon on Monday, May 7th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hotel Hershey.

The award-winning broadcast can be heard here: WBCB 1490 AM: Surviving, Thriving, and Celebrating 60 Years.

The show will re-air on 1490 AM and on wbcb1490.com this Friday, February 23rd, at 5:00 p.m.
