Tax season can cause a pit in many’s stomachs, however, for some, it’s a chance to help.
RSVP Philadelphia, or the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, is offering to prepare a free simple tax return. The services will be provided at KleinLife located at 10100 Jamison Ave. in Northeast Philadelphia.
Suzanne Udell, assistant director of RSVP, said those interested need to make an appointment as there are currently six volunteers.
“It’s usually in the morning at 10:30, 11:30 or 12:30,” Udell explained.
Those interested must have an income below $65,000 for a single filing or less than $95,000 for a joint filing, and they can not operate their own business. They need to bring W-2’s, 1099’s and other investment income and forms to the appointment.
Udell said the program has been going on about 15 years. The 55 and older group gives the community an opportunity to help out or be helped.
RSVP is federally funded through the Corporation For National And Community Service. The program also receives funding from the Philadelphia Corporation For Aging and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
