A late night situation in Middletown could have gone much worse in an almost cinematic break in. News and police helicopters swarmed the Cobalt Ridge section of Levittown last night around 9:30 p.m. in response to multiple reports of a home invasion.

Police say two suspects broke into a family home on the 20th block of Canal Road and tied up their three victims. After a physical altercation, all three victims jumped out of the second story window.

Only one victim sustained injuries in the fall and the perpetrators fled the scene shortly there after.

“Two men wearing ski masks and dark clothing broke into the home and tied up the victims,” the Middletown Police Department posted on Facebook. “One of the intruders may have been armed with a handgun.”

A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, reported at least seven police cars and two helicopters were parked outside the home throughout the evening.

“It’s getting weird around here, I’ll tell you that, it’s getting real weird” he said, referencing a murder investigation in 2016 that brought police to the same home. “What’d they do, pick out Canal Road? You want anything to happen, go down Canal Road.”

The Middletown Police Department is currently investigating the incident as a targeted crime. A police vehicle remained near the scene Tuesday morning and extra patrols will be paroling in the evening hours.

“If you see anyone or anything suspicious or if you have an outside camera which may have captured anything related to this incident, please call 911 right away,” police ask.
