A Philadelphia man is in custody for his alleged role in an attempted robbery at KVK Tech in Newtown this past June. KVK is a pharmaceutical company known for development and manufacture.
Jamal Rorie, 33, is the first person arrested in connection to the break-in. There is at least one more suspect.
Police responded to the location on Campus Drive at around 4:35 a.m. after on-site security reported a break-in. The overnight security crew reported two men inside the building with an alleged firearm.
When the suspects demanded to know where drugs were located, security informed them there were none. As a result, police say the men forced the officers inside a closet at gunpoint.
Detectives also say several individuals staked out KVK for more than a month and even went inside the building. Rorie, also known as Jamal Bentley, is allegedly one of the people responsible, according to authorities.
Rorie is currently residing within the Bucks County Correctional Facility. Magisterial District Judge Michael Petrucci set bail at $750,000.
