State Rep. Wendi Thomas Hosting Town Hall On COVID-19 Scams

State Rep. Wendi Thomas speaks about the Family Care Act in June.

State Rep Wendi Thomas is hosting a telephone town hall Wednesday afternoon to discuss scams during the coronavirus pandemic.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, scammers have twisted people’s fear into profit. Some impersonate contact tracers while others offer fake vaccines.

Thomas’ tele-town hall will focus on helping to inform people so they can protect themselves.

The Senior Protection Unit director David Shallcross is joining as a special guest to help answer questions from callers. As part of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office, Shallcross travels throughout the commonwealth to host seminars about identity theft, fraud, and scams.

The town hall begins at 3 p.m. and residents can either ask a question or simply listen along.

If anyone interested in joining does not receive an automated call at 3, they can call in. The dial-in number is 877-229-8493 with the ID code 118398.
