The Yardley-Makefield Fire Department prepares to hoist a larger American Flag at the Garden of Reflection.

The 16th annual Garden of Reflection 5k is now open to runners who wish to participate in this year’s fundraising run. Set for Sunday, Sept. 15, the start time for both the walk and run is set for 9 a.m.

Located in Lower Makefield, the Garden of Reflection serves as Pennsylvania’s official 9/11 memorial. It honors all honor all 2,973 victims of the attacks, including 18 from Bucks County.

Through the years, this race has raised more than $190,000 for the Garden.

The course begins just west of the Garden on Woodside Drive. After heading east, runners turn north on Brookfield Road and loop around Farmview and Leedoms Drives. Finally, they go back the way they came and end at the Garden of Reflection flag pole.

Consistent sponsors for the run include Shady Brook Farm, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, and McCaffery’s Food Markets.

Pre-registration is $30. Anyone looking for more information can visit the race’s website here or contact the race organizers at 215-630-6655.
