Morrisville Borough recently received a grant to help fund a Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System study.

State Rep. Perry Warren and Council President Fred Kerner have been working towards this goal to gain more information of the levee along the Delaware River.

The $140,000 grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will fund a Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System study.

The findings will present updates needed to design and repair a 4,000-foot levee along the Delaware River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Environmental Protection support study which will include the riverfront from Bridge Street to the Calhoun Street Bridge. Both homes and land between the levee and the Delaware Canal will be a part of the research.

Rep. Warren released a statement this week calling the grant a, “step forward in our joint attempts to help alleviate those high premiums.”

“I’ve been working with local and state officials on possible solutions for the high flood insurance costs that some Morrisville residents face,” Warren noted.
