Devastating story today. Family of Kayden Mancuso, 7, sent me this photo of her with her stepfather, mother, and brothers. Police say the girl’s father Jeffrey Mancuso, 41, killed her then himself. He has a previous record including aggravated assault charges. @CBSPhilly pic.twitter.com/QEHZzxAcdi

The Pennsbury School District will have counseling sessions this week after an apparent murder-suicide took the life of one of their soon-to-be 2nd graders.
Kayden Mancuso, 7, was found dead inside her father’s home on Wilde Street in Philadelphia’s Manayunk section on Monday. According to reports, Jeff Mancuso killed himself after killing his daughter.
On Sunday evening, Kayden’s mother took to Facebook after her daughter did not return home from a weekend at Jeff’s house. The couple was in a long standing custody battle, according to various reports.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help with Kayden’s funeral expenses. On the page the family explains how Jeff had a “violent and storied history,” but was still able to have modified visits with Kayden. The family believes “the system failed.”
Family members described Kayden as sweet, smart, and loving. She was enrolled in Pennsbury School District’s Edgewood Elementary School.
Principal Stephanie Hultquist wrote in a release, “It is with a heavy heart that I reach out this afternoon to inform you of a tragedy without our community…We send our deepest condolences to the family.”
Counseling sessions will take place Wednesday, Aug. 8 and Thursday Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Edgewood Elementary located at 899 Oxford Valley Rd. in Morrisville.
Police continue to investigation the deaths.
