Pennsbury High School is hosting this year’s Southeast Pennsylvania Regional Odyssey of the Mind competition on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at both Pennsbury East and West.
The Odyssey of the Mind program has been a Pennsbury tradition for the last thirty years. It is an international competition in which teams of students ranging in age from kindergarten through college must solve various problems from different fields including science, technology engineering, math, and the arts. There are a total of 103 teams from school districts throughout the southeast region that will come together to compete at Pennsbury on Saturday, including 23 teams made up of more than 160 students from the Pennsbury School District.
However, the twist is the solution must come in the form of an eight minute theatrical performance. There is also a spontaneous question section, in which students must create solutions to completely new problems using verbal, verbal hands-on, or hands-on means.
This year’s World Finals are taking place at Iowa State University from May 23rd through the 26th. Pennsbury has sent at least one team to the finals in 30 out of the previous 33 years.
Pennsbury East campus is located at 705 Hood Blvd, and Pennsbury West is located at 608 S. Olds Blvd, both in Fairless Hills.
