The Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation has added a new memorial scholarship named after longtime employee Dolores Carlen. The PSF will award this scholarship every year going forward.
PSF Board Member Jeffrey Smith recently presented a certificate of appreciation to Carlen’s surviving family. Her husband Arthur Carlen and three living daughters accepted the token on her behalf.
After working at the Pennsbury School District’s Pupil Services Department for 20 years, Carlen retired in Florida. Many new students and parents saw her face first as they entered the main office.
Carlen will also be remembered in the Pennsbury community for volunteering to help students in their ventures. PHS sports, cheerleading, Sports Nite and the marching band were only some of the places Carlen extended her gracious hand.
Carlen’s youngest daughter Brenda Carlen Zellner passed away from cancer in 2005. As a mother, she was proud to have a PSF award named after her daughter, according to a recent press release.
The application deadline for the Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation’s awards is May 1. More information and the application form are available on the foundations website here.
