Habitat Bucks is thanking NJM Insurance Group’s employees for raising funds and donating them to the non-profit.

Mark Applegate, Corporate Giving Associate at NJM Insurance Group presents a check to Habitat Bucks Executive Director, Florence Kawoczka.

As part of its “Jeans for Generosity” campaign, NJM allowed its employees to wear jeans to work on Fridays. In exchange for the privilege, the workers had to provide a charitable donation. Collectively, the effort raised more than $5,300 to donate toward the construction of new homes for low-income families.

“NJM encourages their employees to get involved in the places where they live, work and play,” a recent press release said. “They volunteer their time and resources to support the areas they serve.”

NJM will also sponsor the Habitat Bucks Hard Hats & High Heels gala. Scheduled for May 3 in Chalfont, the event will feature several clever fundraisers.

Bucks County resident Rebecca Turner purchased several upcycled items transformed by designers at last year’s Habitat Bucks gala.

One is where, in the spirit of ReStore, residents upcycle furniture. For the uninitiated, upcycling is a process where old pieces are reused and upgraded to a version different, and possibly better, than their original design.

Tickets for the gala are available on their website hatsnheels.givesmart.com.
