Nighttime travelers should be aware of lane closures taking place this week on Route 1 South between the Morrisville/Pennsylvania Avenue and Bristol Pike interchanges.
Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. workers will be conducting high-friction resurfacing operations. These treatments give motorists better control of their vehicles in dry and wet conditions, and are especially useful at locations with high potential for accidents.
The project also involves improving the northbound side of Route 1, including the installment of a barrier preventing motorists from entering Route 1 from Bristol pike and weaving over to the Route 32 exit.
New overhead signs will be instated to accurately reflect the changing traffic flow.
The project will cost more than 2.3 million dollars, but is completely federally funded. Construction is expected to be done this summer.
