A Langhorne man is in custody after allegedly taking Newtown Township Police on a chase toward Northampton Township.

Jason Ottinger, 46, faces charges of firearms offenses, fleeing an officer, and reckless endangerment.

Authorities say Ottinger was speeding on the Newtown Bypass late Thursday evening. A police unit noticed his black Ford pick-up passing Sycamore Street and conducted a traffic stop.

Ottinger continued for another mile, but finally stopped his vehicle on Parkview Way in the Tyler Walk development. But when the officer approached, Ottinger allegedly refused to cooperate.

Then, the officer noticed a firearm in the vehicle and asked Ottinger to step out. Instead, he sped off through the development.

Police chased the pick-up for a short time until Ottinger went back on the Newtown Bypass toward Northampton. For the safety of other drivers, especially at night, the officer stopped the pursuit.

Ottinger surrendered to police Saturday evening. He is now in Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $25,000.
