As a legal battle continues between the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) and the Neshaminy School District, parents have a chance to hear an update on the situation.
The controversy began in 2013 when the parent of a Native American student sued the school for its “Redskins” team name. The suit alleged the child’s experience at school was significantly impacted because of the name and the logos surrounding it.
The suit was dropped voluntarily in 2015, but the PHRC took up the mantle. As the organization continues the litigation, the school district is continuing to defend itself.
Hearings will be held each morning Jan. 7 through 11 next year starting at 9 a.m. at BCCC, which parents can attend to stay informed. It will be held in the Solarium Room at the Newtown Campus.
