Almost three months after a Vietnam War veteran was killed in a hit-and-run incident, Bucks prosecutors believe they have the man responsible in custody.

District Judge John J. Kelly Jr. arraigned John R. Bik, 53, of Bensalem on third-degree murder, homicide by vehicle, and other charges last Friday. Prosecutors believe he struck and killed James “Frog” Ogborn, 71, then drove away on the evening of Nov. 30, 2018.

Data from Bik’s Ford F-150 shows the vehicle traveling at 72 mph on E. Lincoln Highway near the Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center, according to authorities. At around 7:32 p.m., Bik breaked suddenly, came to a complete stop, then continued on towards his home.

Witnesses at the scene say Bik’s truck swerved before striking Ogborn as he crossed the street in the 40 mph zone. Despite the efforts of the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad, the victim passed away at St. Mary Medical Center shortly thereafter.

Ogborn graduated from Council Rock High School in 1967 and is survived by family in the area, including his brother Orton, according to an obituary.
