The Newtown Business Association has named its local McCaffery’s Food Market its 2018 Business Of The Year. The award is given to an “exemplary” NBA-member for their work to make Newtown a great place to live.
NBA President Bill Sheffer presented Jim McCaffery III and his son Jim McCaffery IV with the award last week. It was the principal award handed out at the NBA’s annual awards breakfast at Chandler Hall to recognize businesses that “promote Newtown as a great place to live, work, shop and do business.”
McCaffery IV says it’s easy for them to reach out and contribute to Newtown because the township is so close to their hearts.
“I’ve lived here my entire life and my father has been here quite a few years, so Newtown is really our home,” McCaffery elaborated.
Among its charitable endeavors, McCaffery’s may be best known in the local area for sponsoring the annual Newtown Holiday Parade. It also partners with food pantries and sponsors youth organizations, including little league teams and scouting troops.
“I think our stores are a reflection of the communities they serve,” McCaffery IV told WBCB. “Many of our associates are from Bucks County. It’s such a great community; it’s so diverse, friendly, and well educated. I think our stores are a reflection of that community.”
The first Bucks County supermarket in Bucks County opened in 1986 in Lower Makefield’s Edgewood Village Shopping Center. It also has locations in Newtown, Blue Bell, Doyestown, and two in Mercer County, NJ.
