A man who savagely attacked his wife with a screwdriver in their home in Falls Township will serve up to 12 years in state prison. Prosecutors had first charged the husband with attempted homicide until he pleaded guilty last week.
After receiving a call from a neighbor in early April, police responded to a home on the 200 block of South Olds Blvd. They found Bao Thien Le, 24, in the act of choking his wife.
The scene on Apr. 5 was particularly gruesome, as Le had used a screwdriver to stab his victim in the head and torso. Le’s wife, 22, survived the attack thanks to medical professionals.
Le pleaded guilty Nov. 5 to aggravated assault and strangulation for the attack. President Judge Wallace Bateman Jr. sentenced him to between six and 12 years in state prison. Le must also pay $7,339 in restitution.
The Falls Township Police and Bucks County Detectives investigated the case, in part using a mobile crime unit truck.
