A man was taken to a city hospital after a gas tank exploded Tuesday evening in Bristol Township.

The man was working on a vehicle around 5 p.m. on the 3000 block of New Falls Rd. He was cutting the “scrap” car apart when, according to reports, the vapors from the gas tank ignited. Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said an explosion and fire occurred.

The man was airlifted to Temple University Hospital’s burn unit for treatment.
