One 30-year-old man is dead after a blaze broke out in an apartment above the Roadhouse Inn Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews dispatched shortly before 3:30 p.m. and worked into the evening to fight the blaze. The building located on New Falls Road near Neshaminy Creek suffered heavy damages.

With about a dozen rooms for rent in the top floor, the consequences could have been much worse. Fortunately, a tenant pulled the fire alarm when they smelled smoke.

A second person was taken to the hospital with injuries from smoke inhalation.

Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito reports the fire began in the living room of one of the apartments, but is still investigating the cause.

Roads around the intersection of Newportville and New Falls Road remained closed for the afternoon while firefighters fought the enormous fire.
