Saturday, April 28 World Cafe Live will host a concert to benefit the Danny DeGennaro Foundation, which provides music and art scholarships to Bucks County Community College. Tickets are $15, doors open at 8 p.m.

The Foundation, inspired by the late singer/guitarist Danny “Rio” DeGennaro, who traveled the world playing music. He was tragically gunned-down in Levittown in 2011 after a botched robbery. DeGennaro’s family and friends created the scholarship opportunity to inspire future local musicians.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer Michael “Kidd Funkadelic” Hampton, as well as rock band All Lit Up, and others will join some of the up-and-coming musicians who have won the scholarship including Kathelyhn Cryan and Alexa Korogodsky.

Emma Spies, 20, the 2016 receipt of the award, will perform with the cover band All Lit Up, which features Guns ‘N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more during the concert. She performed an original song for the judges that she”pulled out of a hat,” and won them over.

“I really didn’t know much about the scholarship,” Spies said when she signed up for it. “But afterward, reading up on it, it was an incredible story about local, legendary musicians coming together.”

Spies will be featured on WBCB 1490 AM Tuesday, April 24. She will join Chris Ermer on his show UpWords between 1 and 2 p.m. You can also tune in on Facebook to watch via the Livestream.
