40 people were evacuated from their residences Monday night at the Lavana Falls Apartments in Levittown.

Fire crews were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. thanks to a fire alarm. Smoke filled the hallways as people left the building. One apartment was left completely uninhabitable.

Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito investigated the scene and determined it was an arson. Local detectives are assisting with the investigation, Dippolito said.

This is the second arson in Bristol in less than a week after a car reported stolen back in June was mysteriously found set ablaze last Friday on Newportville Road.

The Edgely, Levittown #2, Third District, Newportville, and Croydon fire companies responded to the scene. The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad and Bristol Township Police Department also arrived in case of injury.
