Bucks Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick presented a $60,975 federal grant to Lower Makefield Township to bolster school security, educate both students and teachers and also support law enforcement officers and first responders on the critical issues of school safety.

Attending Congressman Fitzpatrick’s meeting Thusday at the Lower Makefield Community Center were police, township and Pennsbury School representtives.

Lower Makefield Township is one of only two muncipalities in Pennsylvania that received grant funds from the 2018 COPS School Violence Prevention Program.

This program provides grants directly to state and local governments to improve security in schools and on school grounds. Earlier this year, Fitzpatrick announced several school safety grant opportunities provided by the U.S. Justice Department.
