Jay Laundromat will remain temporarily closed for repairs after a ceiling fire Wednesday afternoon. Situated in a strip on Mill Creek Road, the laundromat is located near the Mill Creek and Orangewood Apartments.

Multiple Bristol Township fire companies responded to the Violetwood Shopping Center around 1:15 p.m. yesterday. Employees at the next-door Luigi’s Pizzarama called dispatch when they saw smoke coming down through their ceiling.

Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito investigated the scene and assessed the situation.

“I determined the fire was caused by paper-backed insulation up against an exhaust pipe,” Dippolito said in a press release.

A sign posted on the storefront’s windows says Jay Laundromat is “closed until further notice.”

There were no reported injuries. The Edgely, Levittown #2, Fairless Hills, William Penn, Newportville, Croydon, and Third District Fire Companies responded to the scene. The Bristol Township Fire Department and Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad also responded.
