A fire broke out Saturday evening at the abandoned Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. After an investigation, Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito ruled the blaze an arson.
According to Dippolito, the fire began in the school’s auditorium around 5:30 p.m. As the fire marshal follows up on leads, he is asking anyone with information to contact him at 267-812-2907.
The school is located at 10 Plumtree Place in Levittown. However, Abraham Lincoln Elem. was closed several years ago. With a newly built school serving students elsewhere, the building has fallen into disrepair with broken windows and overgrowth.
Judge Jeffrey Finley approved the school’s sale to McGrath & Sons this past March. Plans indicate the developer hopes to convert the 10 acre property into housing for adults 55 and older.
