The Newtown Township Police are alerting residents to coordinated robberies organized by the Felony Lane Gang, a national crime ring recognized by the FBI.

Authorities say the suspects targeted cars at a gym and a daycare in Wrightstown and Newtown respectively. Reports came in “almost simultaneously.”

Officers found vehicles at both locations with broken windows. The victims’ purses had been taken as well.

The Newtown Township Police Department released a statement cautioning residents about potential robberies.

“We urge everyone to keep your vehicles locked and your valuables out of sight, or even better out of your vehicles, at all times.”

A description of the Felony Lane Gang from the FBI:

The Felony Lane Gang is a group of thieves based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that travels across the United States stealing identities and checkbooks from unattended cars (“smash and grabs”). With the stolen checkbooks and driver’s licenses, the gang cashes checks using the drive through lane of banks. The farthest lane from video cameras and tellers have been dubbed the “felony lane” because of the ease with which false identities can be used to cash checks.
