The Bensalem Community is mourning the death of a teenager after a fatal dirt bike crash Friday afternoon.
Police responded to the scene around 4 p.m. to find Raymond Horner, 18, unresponsive and a 16-year-old in critical condition. Horner, a Bensalem High School student, was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, but pronounced dead.
Investigators have determined Horner was riding passenger on his friend’s dirt bike at a high rate of speed. The younger victim driving the bike did not stop for the posted stop sign and crashed into a GMC Acadia at the intersection of Virginia Ave and Tyler Ave. Both boys were not wearing helmets while driving the bike, which was not street legal.
The younger victim was still in extremely critical condition as of Saturday afternoon at Jefferson-Torresdale. He is a student at Bucks County Technical High School.
Officials stated the driver of the GMC had right of way and is cooperating with the investigation. They are being treated for minor injuries.
The Bensalem Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward and call them at 215-633-3719.
