A Falls Township man is dead after shooting himself in a standoff with police, according to the Falls Township Police Department.
Officers responded to a call of a domestic dispute late Sunday evening. They arrived to a home on Thinbark Lane shortly before midnight.
Authorities say the wife called 911 after fleeing the house. She told officers her husband, 47, was inside with more than one gun.
Lt. Nelson Whitney reported officers tried to talk to the man through the door and call him, but were unsuccessful.
When they received no answer, police brought in the Special Response Team. Equipped with an armored vehicle and a loud speaker, they again tried to contact the man.
Four hours later, SRT worked their way up to home to end the standoff. They went inside and found the man dead, with a gunshot wound to his head. Police say the gunshot appeared self-inflicted.
The Bensalem Township Police Department, the Bristol Township Police Department and the Levittown Fairless Hills Rescue Squad responded to the scene as well.
