Falls Township will look to hire a new zoning officer and director of building, planning and code enforcement at next month’s Board of Supervisors meeting. This employee will fill the role of former Chief Code Enforcement Officer Tom Bennett.

Matthew Takita will also take on the role of assistant township manager for a total salary of $120,000.

“The Board had been considering doing a formal search, but Matt’s qualifications and experiences were so stellar that we realized we wouldn’t have to,” Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said. “We knew that a search would not yield any candidate with the experience, qualifications and reputation greater than Matt’s.”

Takita is a graduate of Spring Garden College, where he earned a B.S. in Architecture. He holds two dozen International Code Council certifications and more than a dozen Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code licenses.

The expected hire may be best known for his work in Bensalem Township. Takita worked for 24 years as Director of Building and Planning Department.
