People planning to go out for St. Patrick’s Day should not test the luck of the Irish, the Bucks County DA’s Office warns. Officers from eleven Bucks municipal police departments will be coordinating a DUI checkpoint in Warrington Saturday night.

From 10:00 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m., state troopers will be working side by side with six Lower Bucks departments for directions on Route 611. These included Bensalem, Middletown, Newtown, and Warrington Townships along with Newtown and Penndel Borough.

“St. Patrick’s Day is a great time to celebrate with friends. But no one should press their luck by drinking or doing drugs and driving, Irish or not,” said District Attorney Matthew D. Weintraub. “Plan ahead to get home safely.”

The Warrington Township Police also confirmed there will be roving patrols in the area to catch people driving under the influence.

The DUI checkpoint operations are funded through a PennDOT grant.
