Local residents are invited to a free paper shredding and donation drive event at Pennsbury High School West this Saturday, Oct. 5. Hosted by state Sen. Steve Santarsiero, the joint event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

With the Bucks County Opportunity Council and Habitat ReStore on site, the goal is to bring out as many people as possible. People are welcome to donate furniture, small appliances, clothing, and non-perishable food.

Shredding events are useful for anyone with important documents that cannot simply go in the trash. Taxes, bank statements, and anything with a Social Security number could be a risk if not shredded.

People can also dispose of old electronics chargers, cell phones, and household items.

Santarsiero’s office has a list of suggested food items:

  • Fruit juice (100%)
  • Tuna
  • Breakfast cereal
  • Beans
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned salmon
  • Canned chicken
  • Canned pasta
  • Soup
  • Oatmeal
  • Applesauce
  • Rice
  • Canned fruit
  • Pasta
  • Canned vegetables
