The Danny DeGennaro Foundation will be hosting a special Halloween Bash at “the Barn” at Snipes Farm on Saturday, Oct. 26. With five bands lined up, the concert will serve as a fundraiser and feature two scholarship award winners.
Casey Welborn, a young local musician who performs at different restaurants throughout Lower Bucks, will open the show. AJ Slick Band will headline the show, with Jim Mitchell and the Repeat Offenders, and cover band All Lit Up.
Established in 2014, the Foundation honors the memory of Levittown native Danny “Rio” DeGennaro. Its mission to award music and arts scholarships to students at Bucks County Community College.
Board Member John Mulhern was a close friend to DeGennaro and a fellow musician.
“If you looked at Danny and knew Danny, he just had God given talent,” Mulhern said. “You couldn’t teach Danny. He already knew it.”
But Mulhern can teach the scholarship award winners on how to write songs, which he does regularly. BCCC student award winners Bee Niranon and Kieran Corson both learned under Mulhern. Each will each perform a set at the show.
Ed Mero, who attended Pennsbury High School with DeGennaro in the 70s, also spearheaded the Foundation. He’s happy to see the fundraiser benefiting future award winners.
“This keeps with our mission of mentoring and creating scholarships with young musicians,” said Mero.
In addition to the music, people are encouraged to wear creative costumes as there will be prizes. The Foundation will supply food and refreshments, while the Stadium Bar & Grill will provide alcoholic beverages.
The Halloween Bash will last from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Barn. Tickets cost $20. The Barn is located at Snipes Farm, 890 West Bridge St. in Morrisville.
