Bucks County mosquito trucks are back to making their rounds around the Lower Bucks area to combat West Nile Virus and itchy bites.

Equipped with an ultra-low volume spray, these trucks are specifically meant to kill adult Culex mosquitos. The Kontrol 4+4 Adulticide is essentially non-toxic to mammals and other insects.

Magnolia Hills and Birch Valley in Levittown are often targets for anti-mosquito efforts each year, and the work continues. Trucks were scheduled to visit the area Wednesday evening.

However, heavy rains Wednesday delayed the first round of spraying. Additionally, rain creates an ideal environment for the Culex to breed.

Additionally, county officials are keeping local festivals in mind. The Middletown Grange Fair opens Wednesday, Aug. 14. Trucks were scheduled to spray the area in advance of the festivities.

Looking forward, Croydon is next on the list of targeted areas. Crews will spray the adulticide Friday evening. The rain date is the following Monday.
