In what seems to be an incident of conflict-resolution gone wrong, a Bensalem man is charged with killing his roommate. Police arrested Gregory Hylton, 40, Saturday night after what he called an argument.
Authorities say Hylton called police around 10:30 p.m. to report accidentally shooting his roommate, 25-year-old Sharif Simpson. Hylton claims Simpson left a fast food bag on the couch in their Creekside Apartment.
This spurred an argument about cleanliness and Hylton called his flatmate a pig. Hylton admitted to police he got physical with Simpson and the two wrestled on the bed.
During the altercation, Hylton drew his 9mm handgun and hit his opponent with the muzzle in the shoulder several times. He then allegedly fired the weapon into his roommate, Hylton told police.
Hylton is staying in Bucks County Correctional Facility and District Judge Michael Petrucci has denied him bail. He faces charges of criminal homicide possession of an instrument of crime.
Detectives are still investigating the scene to determine the story’s legitimacy.
