A bear in the Lower Makefield area has given the locals pause. The Lower Makefield Township Police Department is requesting residents to shelter in place until further notice.

People in the Yardley Hunt Development spotted the bear early Sunday afternoon. One resident captured video of the black bear as it roamed through the neighborhood.

Authorities say the bear is about six feet long.

“If sighted please call 911 immediately,” police said. “The Game Commission is en route.”

It is unclear whether this is the same bear residents of West Goshen Township saw Saturday morning. The community in Chester County noticed the mammal near South Five Points Road at around 9 a.m.

Local reports estimated the bear weighed between 100 and 150 pounds.
