Bucks County detectives and the Tullytown Borough police are investigating the death of a small child with no obvious explanation during the weekend.
2-year-old Mazikeen Clarey was found laying on a bed in his home on the 500 block of Lovett Avenue at around 10:35 Saturday evening. An autopsy will be performed as there is no apparent trauma to the boy’s body.
His mother 42-year-old Jennifer Clarey was also found in the residence with self-inflicted wounds according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. She is now recovering in the hospital.
As of Monday morning, the home is still taped off as police continue their investigation. A candle vigil placed by neighbors sits on the front lawn next to the mailbox.
No one else was found in the residence and police believe there is no danger to the public. More information will be released once the autopsy is complete.
According to District Attorney Matt Weintraub the investigation is looking to homicide as a potential explanation, but no criminal charges have been filed.
“Young Mazikeen’s death is tragic, regardless of how it was caused,” Weintraub said. “We are using all of our resources to determine if he is the victim of a homicide. This will take time. We ask for your assistance and your patience while we conduct this investigation.”
