Police have arrested Falls Township man in Florida for allegedly killing a 22-month-old toddler in a Fallsington apartment late last year. Falls Township Police, Bucks County Detectives, and local police caught up to Shawn Robert Felmey, 45, in Melbourne.
An autopsy revealed the small boy sustained fatal head trauma. The assigned forensic pathologist said such an action would have required substantial force, and the child was likely swung or thrown.
Prosecutors claim Felmey is responsible for the toddler’s death on Dec. 18. He faces charges of criminal homicide and child endangerment.
Multiple witnesses told detectives they saw Felmey roughly handle the child on several occasions, according to an affidavit. Other family members reported seeing unexplained bruises on the boy’s head, and one even said they saw Felmey shake him.
The affidavit also claims Felmey lied to police, changing his story several times about where he was and if he had any contact with the child. Additionally, prosecutors say he changed his typical morning routine in an unusual manner. EMS responders also told police Felmey never asked about the toddler’s well-being as they worked at the scene.
Felmey is awaiting extradition to Bucks County.
