A local job recruitment agency is holding its first day and night career fair in Neshaminy Mall on Tuesday, Sept. 17 as it tries to accommodate everyone’s schedule.
Pennsbury Graduate Jennifer Schultz founded Recruitment Queen. Schultz says the new format will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., then again from 3 to 7 p.m.
“I’m trying to remove any obstacle that could potentially keep a job seeker from attending,” Schultz said. The two sessions will also allow different employers to attend depending on their availability.
In a time where the unemployment rate is relatively low, not everyone has a job. Whether entry-level or higher up in the ladder, the aim is to give people regardless of age or experience a chance to find employment.
“These employers, they’re still hiring,” Schultz said. “I think it’s someone’s best chance to get hired, rather than waiting to apply online and waiting to hear back, to be able to talk to that employer face to face.”
But for some people, applying for a job is intimidating. Schultz says sometimes attendees will sign up, but get cold feet because of an anxiety they build up in their minds.
“They’re afraid to come because they think it’s something they have to practice for, but it’s really quite simple. It’s simply a conversation with the employer. It’s not hard. They just show up like they’re going to an interview, bring they’re resume, and get a chance to talk to someone.”
Still, professional attire is recommended. Job seekers should bring multiple copies of their resume.
Recruitment Queen will continue to add employers to the lineup, and Schultz expects about 25 in total.
The job fair will be held in the Barnes & Noble Court. People looking to sign up for the expo can do so on the Recruitment Queen website here.
