Update: Authorities say a standoff between police and a suspect ended shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The shots fired allegedly came from within a home located at 51 Belmont Square. 

A statement from the DA’s Office indicates the suspect fired his weapon during the standoff. A 21-year-old suspect surrendered and is now in custody.


 

There are reports of an active shooter in Doylestown near Belmont Square, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

“Police are on scene responding to reports of a shooting in the area of Belmont Square in Doylestown Borough near the intersection of Court and East streets. Neighbors should call 911 and shelter in place unless evacuated. Please avoid the area.”

SWAT is reportedly on scene with several police vehicles. Authorities say the shots were fired inside a home.

“We have a heavy police presence there,” District Attorney Matt Weintraub said.

There is no indication yet anyone has been injured.
